Right of Reply

The Caligulas accepts formal responses to citations on its register. The institution publishes approved responses in full on the relevant nominee’s page.

Responses are accepted by direct correspondence only. The institution does not operate a public submission form. This is a deliberate measure to ensure that the institution’s review capacity is reserved for genuine responses from those entitled to make them.

The institution will consider responses from the nominee themselves or from a legal representative formally retained by the nominee. The institution will not consider responses submitted by supporters, fans, members of the public, or any party other than the nominee or their legal representative.

A formal response must be sent in writing to the address below. The institution requires the following.

The full text of the response, signed by the nominee or by named counsel. Evidence of the legal representative’s authority to act, where the response is submitted by counsel. The signatory’s contact details, for the institution’s records only. These details are not published.

The institution reviews each response received. Where a response is approved for publication, it appears in full on the relevant nominee’s page, in a panel marked Right of Reply, set in patina type beneath the original citation. The response remains on the page in perpetuity, alongside the citation it replies to.
